Woman's Costume HC96/1-3


A wine coloured skirt made of cotton. A cream taffeta blouse with long sleeves and lace at wrist. A navy cotton jacket with pin tucking on sleeve and fish tail flare at back.

This outfit could have been worn by a female school teacher in the late 1800s early 1900s. The rules for teachers were very strict and for women included wearing at least two petticoats and dresses no shorter than 2 inches above the ankles.
