A device for mixing cream until it becomes butter. Evidence suggests that churns were used in 600AD. Barrel churns of this type were invented in the 1700s. This churn was made by Samuel Cupples Company which was named after its founder. Cupples was a self made multi-millionaire and on his death bed in 1912 he left more than four million dollars to orphanages.
