Flourbag Bloomers HC6

Bloomers made from flourbags with printing still visible. Elastic at waist with frill at leg edge.

Named after Amelia Bloomer who popularised the garment in order to ride a bicycle modestly. During the 1850s and 1860s they were worn by women activists involved in dress reform and the women's rights movement. They became popular during the 1910s and 1920s.
